Structural Engineering is concerned with the planning, design, construction, inspection, monitoring, maintenance, rehabilitation and demolition of permanent and temporary structures, as well as structural systems and their components. It also considers the technical, economic, environmental, aesthetic and social aspects of structures.
We are one part of the design team associated with each project, which consists of the Architect, we the Engineer, and the client. Each new project begins with a design brief from your architect or the client. Our objective is to design a structural framework to match the architects plan from which the structure is erected. If necessary we can arrange a site visit, telephone conference or simple email conversation to gather all information required to begin designing that structural framework. This early stage is important as it helps us understand your requirements and expectations.
We carry out our design work based on the information provided. This design is in accordance with the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code to ensure a structurally safe building. Our objective is to provide a structure that fits in with the constraints of the Architects design, thus meeting client expectations and create "a built environment" of lasting impact. We carry out design objectives as best we can always understanding such constraints as budgeted costs and time schedules.

Burrows Consulting is an small experienced structural engineering consulting company working mainly in the Auckland area. For over 30 years, we have helped to transform the ideas and visions of our clients into finished building projects fully compliant with the NZ Building Standards.
